CAPACITY-BUILDING
ACTIVITIES

The second stage of the project focuses on the implementation of capacity-building activities for members of local youth councils, youth workers and other persons responsible for development of such structures.

The Capacity-Building Activities for Local Youth Councils will be implemented based on the outcomes of the 1st stage of the project, Educational Programme: Quality Charter on Inclusive and Participatory Local Youth Councils, Toolkit for Upgrading Local Youth Councils, MOOC on youth participation and local youth councils.

Under this stage, we aim to:

  • develop and test training modules based on non-formal education that enable local youth councils to engage marginalized youth that is usually excluded from such participatory spaces;

  • equip local youth councils with sustainable e-participation solutions, that bring added value to their work

  • build capacities of the members of local youth councils to act as multipliers on the topics of democracy, participation and inclusion;

  • equip the youth councils with knowledge and skills to affect policy-making at the local level;

  • create spaces for exchange and sharing of practices related to youth participation in decision-making at the local level between young people from different parts of the world;

  • enable youth workers to learn first-hand about functioning of local youth councils and making them more inclusive from their colleagues from different municipalities through job shadowing opportunities;

  • create a sense of belonging to the local and global community among youth by engaging them in interaction with their peers from around the world;

  • develop a global platform (open course) that will promote the new inclusive model of local youth councils.

Key Activities

IMPLEMENTATION OF THE MOOC ON YOUTH PARTICIPATION AND LOCAL YOUTH COUNCILS

INTERNATIONAL TRAINING COURSE FOR YOUNG MULTIPLIERS + LOCAL TRAININGS “MY DREAM YOUTH COUNCIL”

JOB SHADOWING ACTIVITIES FOR YOUTH WORKERS ENGAGED IN LOCAL YOUTH COUNCILS

The Massive Open Online Course will be prepared on a Moodle-type platform and will connect approximately 100 participants worldwide. The course will be a mixture of synchronous (Zoom webinars) and asynchronous (videos, articles, publications, exams, quizzes, infographics) sessions, and will target anyone who is interested in the topic of local youth councils and youth participation at local level.

The course will help to improve the understanding of the concept of the local youth council among young leaders from each participating country. The training programme will tackle 2 quality dimensions of local youth councils: educational and policy dimensions. As a follow-up after an international activity, participants from each country will be responsible for organising a local training "My dream youth council" to pass the knowledge to their peers.

This activity covers bilateral exchanges of youth workers to build their capacity to support local youth councils. A youth worker responsible for a local youth council in their community will do the job shadowing in another project partner country, with aim to learn first-hand about how they work with the local youth council, how to increase the youth outreach and make the youth council more inclusive, how to ensure or improve the cooperation between the local youth council and the local authorities.
